CARE GUIDE
JEWELLERY CARE
Certain basic precautions can help keep the sparkle in your jewellery:
Remove your jewellery when taking part in outdoor sports and activities, including gardening and swimming, and when doing heavy housework.
Avoid excessive impact against hard surfaces, and avoid contact with perfumes, cosmetics and household chemicals.
Never remove jewellery by pulling directly on any of the stones.
As with all jewellery, regular cleaning is important. Soaps, lotions and everyday dirt can build up over time and reduce the brilliance of the stones.
To clean your Desert Diamonds jewellery, use a mild solution of six parts water to one part ammonia and apply gently with a very soft, non-metallic bristled brush.
Jewellery set with stones can also be maintained with a non-abrasive jewellery cleaner. Ultrasonic cleaning is not suitable for many gemstones, so we advise against this method.
Professional cleaning and servicing, including checking the setting and prongs, is highly recommended at least once a year.
Many of our pieces are white gold plated to enhance their appearance. As plating can wear over time, we recommend having your jewellery re-plated when signs of wear begin to appear.
Tarnishing of silver is a normal process caused by oxidation, moisture in the air and sunlight. To help reduce tarnish, we recommend storing sterling silver jewellery in an airtight protective bag made from tarnish-proof cloth, or in a plastic zip-lock bag. Storing jewellery this way also helps prevent scratching.
Hang up your Floating Diamonds when you are not wearing them to help retain their shape.
Do not stretch your Helix Cuff when putting it on or taking it off. The cuff should be eased carefully over the smallest part of the ear.
